In the below videos, we’re going to show you four drills that mix ball mastery and dribbling using the soles of your feet.

 

These are essential skills that can help you avoid defenders and maintain possession in tight spaces.

 

 

Drill #1 Sole Roll Pyramid

 

 

 

Coaching Points:

  • Use three cones that are set one to two feet apart to make a triangle
  • Bend your knees and stay light on your feet
  • Pretend the ground is sizzling hot
  • Perform the sole rolls while weaving through the triangle of cones
  • Make the distance closer for tighter touches

 

Drill #2 Sole Roll Tick Tocks

 

Coaching Points:

  • Perform two sole rolls from side to side and then tick-tocks
  • Add two cones to simulate tight spaces
  • Check up with your eyes during the tick-tocks
  • Perform the sole rolls while weaving through the triangle of cones
  • Make the distance closer for tighter touches

 

Drill #3 Continuous Traveling Sole Rolls

 

Coaching Points:

  • Find a larger space and perform continuous traveling sole rolls down and back
  • Use the left and right foot
  • Ensure the shoulders are slightly facing forward
  • Move quickly, but remember to stay under control
  • Touch the ball with every single step

 

Drill #4 Freestyle Dribbling with Sole Rolls

 

Coaching Points:

  • Head to the field and perform freestyle dribbling mixing in the soles of your feet
  • Dribble with both feet and change direction and tempo often
  • Bring a friend for defense and see how many moves you can do with the soles of your feet
  • Have fun and even score goals
