The Iniesta Move is the first drill in our Two Cone Ball Mastery Series.
I’ve seen this simple yet powerful move used time and again to beat defenders, making it a valuable tool in any player’s skill set.
How to Perform the Iniesta Move:
- Place two cones about a foot apart.
- Have your child start with the ball between the cones.
- Using the inside of their foot, pass the ball gently back and forth, keeping it between the cones and staying controlled.
- The key is smooth, quick touches as they shift the ball from one foot to the other.
Why It’s Effective:
- Builds Ball Control: Players gain confidence controlling the ball with small, precise touches.
- Enhances Rhythm and Coordination: Helps kids develop footwork that’s in sync with the ball.
- Great Warm-Up: A gentle yet engaging start to get those feet ready for more advanced moves.
This drill may look simple, but it’s incredibly useful, especially for tight space control and confidence-building.
And like all Anytime Soccer Training drills, we’ll build on this move, adding layers as your child’s skills grow.
