US Soccer fans have reason to be excited after recent news that 18-year-old Yunus Musah has committed to represent the United States in international competition.

Musah, who is eligible for several countries including England, Ghana, Italy, and the United States, is expected to join the US Men’s National Team (USMNT) for upcoming friendlies against Jamaica and Northern Ireland during this month’s FIFA international window.

Although Musah has been on the US coaching staff’s radar since 2019, he made his first appearance for the USMNT in November 2020 against Wales and Panama.

Musah’s impressive play and personality immediately caught the attention of USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter, who praised his exceptional talent and potential for both the present and future.

“Yunus is an exceptional talent. For his age, it’s impressive what he can do,” Berhalter said. “When the group first met him, we were immediately drawn to his personality and what a great person he is. When you see him play, you realize there is a ton of talent as well. We’re really excited, because not only is Yunus a player for today, he’s a player for the future.”

Musah’s commitment to the USMNT is a positive step forward for US Soccer, and fans can look forward to watching him develop as a player on the international stage.
